Govt added 10 Iconic sites in 3rd phase of its flagship project of Swachh Iconic Places.

The government has added ten Iconic sites in third phase of its flagship project of Swachh Iconic Places (SIP) under Swachh Bharat Mission.

The sites are Raghavendra Swamy Temple of Kurnool in Andhra Pradesh, Hazardwari Palace of Murshidabad, West Bengal, Brahma Sarovar Temple of Kurukshetra, Haryana, Vidur Kuti in Bijnor and Nagvasuki Temple of Allahabad in Uttar Pradesh and Mana village in Chamoli and Kanvashram in Uttarakhand.

Besides, Pangong Lake in Leh-Ladakh in Jammu and Kashmir, Ima Keithal of Imphal in Manipur, Sabarimala Temple of Kerala. Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation in a statement said, these sites have joined the 20 iconic places selected under Phase- I and II where special sanitation work is underway.

The first phase was launched in 2016 while the second in 2017. Speaking at the launch of the third phase of the project in Mana village in Uttarakhand yesterday, Drinking Water and Sanitation Secretary, Parameswaran Iyer said under it, the government will take up initiatives like improved sewage infrastructure, drainage facilities, installation of sewage treatment plant, improved sanitation facilities and water vending machines.

He also added that solid and liquid waste management set-up, structure restoration, roads maintenance, lighting arrangements, beautification of parks, better transport facilities in approach and access areas will also be taken up at the main sites. (Source: News on Air)
